Mingle is a free swipe app for meeting people in Manchester — a city built on live music, wet afternoons and impossible-to-resist pie shops. Set your city, choose Friends or Dating mode, and swipe profiles from the Northern Quarter and Ancoats to Didsbury, Chorlton and Salford Quays. You must be 18 or over, and matching stays at city level: Mingle never uses precise GPS, so nobody is pointed at your address. When you match, plans write themselves — coffee on Thomas Street, a walk through Heaton Park, street food under the glass roof of Mackie Mayor, or a pint in a Castlefield lock-side pub.

How it works

Sign up with a first name, your age and Manchester as your city, then pick at least three interests so your deck leans toward people who actually click with you — gig-goers, football heads, boulderers, book-club people, whatever you are into. Swipe right to like, left to pass, up for a Super Like, and back if you change your mind. When someone likes you back you match, and chat opens with suggested conversation starters so the opener is not just "hey". Filters cover age, distance and shared interests only — Mingle deliberately has no race, ethnicity, nationality or religion filters — and everything runs in your browser, installing as an app on your phone.

Is Mingle free?

Yes. Creating a profile, swiping, matching and chatting are free in both modes, with nothing to cancel and no card to enter. Mingle keeps the lights on with clearly labelled advertising and a few partner links on the "Plan the hang" screen — never by selling your data. When you first open Mingle you choose whether non-essential cookies are used, and picking "Essential only" never disables a feature, which is the same consent choice UK and EU privacy law expects.

Safety first

Meet in public for a first hang — a table at Mackie Mayor, the terraces off Albert Square, or a busy stretch of the Whitworth Park path — and tell a friend where you are going and when you will be back. Keep messages inside Mingle until you are comfortable, and never send money to someone you have only met in chat. Every profile has a report button 🚨 with specific reasons, including "Under 18", and a block button 🚫. Mingle is 18+ only, underage accounts are removed, your data is handled under UK GDPR, and your location stays at city level rather than street level.
