Make Friends in Dublin — Mingle

Mingle is a free swipe app for meeting people in Dublin — new city, new job, or simply a circle that could use widening. Set your city to Dublin, choose Friends or Dating mode, and swipe through profiles of people across the same city: Smithfield, Stoneybatter, the Docklands, Rathmines or out toward Dún Laoghaire. The app is strictly 18 and over, and matching is city-level only: Mingle never uses precise GPS, so nobody is pointed at your address. When you are ready to meet up, the city supplies the setting — a walk through St Stephen's Green, coffee on South Great George's Street, a pint where the trad session starts early, or the cliff path at Howth on a clear day.

How it works

Sign up with a first name, your age and your city, then pick at least three interests so your deck leans toward people you would actually click with. Swipe right to like, left to pass, up for a Super Like, and back if you change your mind. When someone likes you back you match, and chat opens with suggested conversation starters so the opener is not just "hey". Filters cover age, distance and shared interests only — Mingle deliberately has no race, ethnicity, nationality or religion filters, so discovery stays fair in a city with students and newcomers from everywhere. Everything runs in your browser and installs as an app on your phone, opening as quickly as your camera.

Is Mingle free?

Yes. Creating a profile, swiping, matching and chatting are free in both modes, with nothing to cancel and no card to enter. The app is funded by clearly labeled advertising and by a small number of partner links on the "Plan the hang" screen. When you first open Mingle you choose whether non-essential cookies are used, and picking "Essential only" never disables a feature — the same consent choice European privacy law requires.

Safety first

Meet in a public place for a first hang — a busy café off Grafton Street, the park paths of St Stephen's Green in daylight, a well-filled pub with a kitchen — and tell a friend where you are going and when you will be back. Keep messages inside Mingle until you are comfortable, and never send money to someone you have only met in chat. Every profile has a report button 🚨 with specific reasons, including "Under 18", and a block button 🚫. Mingle is 18+ only and underage accounts are removed, your data is handled under GDPR, and your location stays at city level rather than street level.
