Mingle is a free swipe app for anyone who wants to make friends in London without another round of empty group plans. Set your city to London, choose Friends or Dating mode, and swipe through profiles of people across the same city. It is strictly 18 and over, and matching is city-level only — Mingle never asks for precise GPS, so your exact address is never part of the profile. When a match turns into an actual plan, simple options suit this city: a stroll through one of the big parks, a morning at a free-entry museum, a canal or riverside walk, or coffee in a neighbourhood café where you can both hear yourselves think.

How it works

Sign up with a first name, your age and your city, then choose at least three interests so your deck leans toward people you would actually click with. Swipe right to like, left to pass, up for a Super Like, and back if you change your mind. When someone likes you back you match, and the chat opens with suggested conversation starters so you are not stuck typing "hey" first. Filters cover age, distance and shared interests only — Mingle deliberately has no race, ethnicity, nationality or religion filters, so discovery stays fair. It runs in your browser and installs on your phone, so the London friends app you open on the Overground is the same one you open at home.

Is Mingle free?

Yes. Creating a profile, swiping, matching and chatting are free in both modes, with nothing to cancel and no card to enter. The app is funded by clearly labeled advertising and by a small number of partner links on the "Plan the hang" screen. When you first open Mingle you decide whether non-essential cookies are used, and choosing "Essential only" never removes a feature.

Safety first

Meet in a public place for a first hang — a busy café, a museum foyer, a well-used park path — and tell a friend where you are going and when you expect to be back. Keep messages inside Mingle until you are comfortable, and never send money to someone you have only met in chat. Every profile has a report button 🚨 with specific reasons, including "Under 18", and a block button 🚫; Mingle is 18+ only and underage accounts are removed. Your location stays at city level, which also keeps your postcode out of your profile.
