Make Friends in Copenhagen — Mingle

Mingle is a free swipe app for meeting people in Copenhagen — bikes first, small cups of coffee, and harbours you can swim in. Set your city, choose Friends or Dating mode, and swipe profiles from Nørrebro and Vesterbro to Christianshavn, Østerbro and Islands Brygge. You must be 18 or over, and matching stays at city level: Mingle never uses precise GPS, so nobody is pointed at your address. When you match, plans write themselves — coffee at a Nørrebro square, a walk under the trees of Assistens Kirkegård, street food at Reffen, or a swim at the Islands Brygge harbour bath if it is one of those summers.

How it works

Sign up with a first name, your age and Copenhagen as your city, then pick at least three interests so your deck leans toward people who share them — cycling, ceramics, natural wine, park hangs, whatever you are into. Swipe right to like, left to pass, up for a Super Like, and back if you change your mind. When someone likes you back you match, and chat opens with suggested conversation starters so the opener is not just "hej". Filters cover age, distance and shared interests only — Mingle has no race, ethnicity, nationality or religion filters — and everything runs in your browser, installing as an app on your phone.

Is Mingle free?

Yes. Profiles, swipes, matches and chats cost nothing in both modes: no card, no trial, nothing to cancel. Mingle is funded by clearly labelled advertising and a few partner links on the "Plan the hang" screen. On first open you choose whether non-essential cookies are used, and "Essential only" never disables a feature — the consent choice Danish and EU privacy law (GDPR) requires.

Safety first

Meet somewhere public for a first hang — a busy Nørrebro cafe, the main paths of Assistens in daylight, or a crowded Refshaleveen courtyard — and tell a friend where you are going and when you will be back. Keep messages inside Mingle until you are comfortable, and never send money to someone you have only met in chat. Every profile has a report button 🚨 with specific reasons, including "Under 18", and a block button 🚫. Mingle is 18+ only, underage accounts are removed, your data is handled under the GDPR, and location stays city level. Swim only at the official harbour baths, never after dark and never alone.
