Make Friends in Rome — Mingle

Mingle is a free swipe app for meeting people in Rome — the kind of city where an ordinary walk past a fountain turns into an afternoon. Set your city, choose Friends or Dating mode, and swipe profiles from Trastevere and Monti to Testaccio, Prati and San Lorenzo. You must be 18 or over, and matching stays at city level: Mingle never uses precise GPS, so your exact street is never shared. When you match, plans write themselves — coffee near Campo de' Fiori, a slow loop of the Villa Borghese gardens, an evening along the Tiber embankment, or supplì and a bus ride through Testaccio.

How it works

Sign up with a first name, your age and Rome as your city, then pick at least three interests so your deck leans toward people you would get on with — calcio, cinema, archaeology, cooking, whatever suits you. Swipe right to like, left to pass, up for a Super Like, and back if you change your mind. Likes that come back become a match, and chat opens with suggested conversation starters so nobody has to open with just "ciao". Filters cover age, distance and shared interests only — no race, ethnicity, nationality or religion filters — and the app runs in your browser, installing on your phone like any other.

Is Mingle free?

Yes. Profiles, swipes, matches and chats are free in both modes: no card, no trial, nothing to cancel. Mingle stays free on clearly labelled advertising and a few partner links on the "Plan the hang" screen. On first open you choose whether non-essential cookies are used, and "Essential only" never disables a feature — the consent choice Italian and EU privacy law (GDPR) expects.

Safety first

Meet in public for a first hang — a busy table on Piazza Navona, the main gravel loops of Villa Borghese, or a crowded Trastevere square after dark — and tell a friend where you are going and when you will be back. Keep chat inside Mingle until you are comfortable and never send money to someone you have only met online. Every profile carries a report button 🚨 with specific reasons, including "Under 18", plus a block button 🚫. Mingle is 18+ only, underage accounts are removed, your data is handled under the GDPR, and location stays at city level.
