Make Friends in Munich — Mingle

Mingle is a free swipe app for meeting people in Munich — the one big city where the park, the river and the beer gardens do most of the socialising. Set your city, choose Friends or Dating mode, and swipe profiles from Schwabing and the Glockenbachviertel to Haidhausen, Maxvorstadt and the Au. You must be 18 or over, and matching stays at city level: Mingle never uses precise GPS, so your exact address is never in play. When you match, plans come easily — a walk to the Eisbach wave, coffee in the Alter Botanischer Garten, a bike along the Isar banks, or Brezn and Weißwurst at a Viktualienmarkt stall.

How it works

Sign up with a first name, your age and Munich as your city, then pick at least three interests so your deck leans toward people you would get on with — climbing, bouldering, Oktoberfest-season concerts, Alpine weekends, whatever fits you. Swipe right to like, left to pass, up for a Super Like, and back if you change your mind. Likes that come back to you become a match, and chat opens with suggested conversation starters so nobody opens with just "hallo". Filters cover age, distance and shared interests only — no race, ethnicity, nationality or religion filters — and the whole thing runs in your browser, installing on your phone.

Is Mingle free?

Yes. Profiles, swipes, matches and chats are free in both modes, with nothing to cancel and no card to enter. Mingle keeps the lights on with clearly labelled advertising and a few partner links on the "Plan the hang" screen. On first open you choose whether non-essential cookies are used, and "Essential only" never disables a feature — the consent choice German and EU privacy law (DSGVO) expects.

Safety first

Meet in public for a first hang — a busy beer-garden table, the crowded Eisbach banks, or a full Viktualienmarkt stall row — and tell a friend where you are going and when you will be back. Keep chat inside Mingle until you are comfortable and never send money to someone you have only met online. Every profile carries a report button 🚨 with specific reasons, including "Under 18", plus a block button 🚫. Mingle is 18+ only, underage accounts are removed, your data is handled under the DSGVO, and location stays at city level. The Isar runs fast after rain — swim only at marked spots.
